A research technical professional can apply as a project lead or project co-lead, provided that they meet the UKRI individual eligibility criteria. Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) expects institutions to take a strong strategic approach prioritising applications that are both strongly aligned with EPSRC’s strategic priorities and of highest importance to the institution. The applications made should not be considered as ‘nice to have’ infrastructure, but rather a strategic necessity for the host institution’s long-term strategy. EPSRC will accept no more than three applications from each institution per batching period. Additional applications from the same institution will automatically be rejected. The institutional limit should not be seen as a target by institutions. Applications should only be submitted when they have fully addressed the assessment criteria and reflected as an institutional priority. Batching period: • Batching period 1: September 2026 to end of December 2026 • Batching period 2: January 2027 to end of April 2027 • Presumably period 3: May 2027 to end of November 2027 • Presumably period 4: December 2027 to end of March 2028 • Presumably period 5: April 2028 to end of September 2028 We reserve the right to modify the batching periods or assessment timelines at any stage to ensure effective demand and resource management. International researchers The UKRI-RCN Money Follows Cooperation Agreement does not apply to this funding opportunity. As such grants submitted to this funding opportunity cannot include a Norway-based Project Co-Lead (international).
